Our Team
Our dedicated coaching team, led by Head Coach Scott, brings a wealth of experience, passion, and heart to everything we do. Their commitment to skill, creativity, and connection is what makes Training Grounds more than just a place to train.
BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing, MMA
Scott is one of the original founders of Training Grounds and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with a deep passion for Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and MMA. A strong advocate for the ecological approach to coaching, he creates dynamic, game-based training centred on exploration, adaptability, and real-world application. Scott believes martial arts should be both practical and enjoyable, helping people thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, BJJ
Jamie is our Head Boxing Coach bringing years of experience in Muay Thai, MMA, and BJJ. Inspired by Bruce Lee movies and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, his love for martial arts runs deep. Known for his calm energy and commitment to creating a welcoming space, Jamie is a big part of what makes the vibe at Training Grounds so special.
Kids BJJ
Wayne is our dedicated Kids BJJ Coach, known for his thoughtful approach and genuine care for each child's journey. His training philosophy centres on patience, kindness, and being fully present. What he loves most is passing on knowledge, nurturing growth, and celebrating the wins alongside his students.
Boxing
Jason is one of our dedicated Boxing Coaches, known for his calm presence and genuine connection with his students. Originally drawn to boxing to build confidence, Jason went on to headline multiple boxing promotions during his career. What motivates him most now is giving back and watching students grow and evolve.

Women's BJJ, Self Defence
Janise is our Women's BJJ coach and Women's Self-Defence instructor with a passion for empowering others through movement and mindset. Boxing, Muay Thai
Nathan's journey into martial arts began at the end of a rugby season. Since joining Training Grounds, he discovered his calling as a coach. His training philosophy centres on quality over quantity—sharpen your skills first, then build the intensity. He's driven by the positive impact martial arts has on people's lives.
Muay Thai
John J brings a relaxed vibe, sweet tunes, sharp skills, and years of passion for martial arts to every session. His training philosophy is simple: show up, stay patient, and enjoy the process. He loves helping people grow into the best version of themselves, both on and off the mats.
Muay Thai
Dave brings decades of experience and a deep passion for Muay Thai to every session. He began training in 1996 and has spent years honing his craft in the UK, Australia, and Thailand. Trained under two of the UK's most respected Muay Thai masters, Dave creates an environment where students of all levels can build confidence and sharpen their skills.
BJJ, Kids
Ethan started his BJJ journey right here at Training Grounds after being inspired by his dad training at the original TG. Now a key part of the Kids and Teens program, Ethan brings energy, relatability, and heart to every session. He loves seeing the kids improve week by week.
Muay Thai, Boxing, Kids
Seb specialises in Muay Thai and Boxing, bringing passion, heart and experience beyond his years to every session. With a background in competitive kickboxing including WAKO Nationals and Junior Worlds, his coaching philosophy is grounded: give 100% of whatever you have that day.
Muay Thai, BJJ, Kids
Jed started training Muay Thai at 14, driven by a childhood dream of becoming like Batman. Now training in both Muay Thai and BJJ, he brings a strong, grounded presence to the mats. As an assistant coach, Jed finds purpose in guiding the next generation with respect and resilience.
Muay Thai, BJJ, Kids
Seb's journey began after discovering Muay Thai on social media, sparking a deep passion for martial arts. He's gone on to take first place in a Jiu Jitsu competition undefeated. His training philosophy is built on consistency, and he thrives on giving others the opportunity to learn new skills.
How We Coach
Learning emerges through interaction between the individual, the task, and the environment — helping students read situations, make decisions, and adapt in real time.
We shape learning by adjusting variables such as space, rules, and goals — encouraging creativity, awareness, and performance under pressure.
